Tyvek can be used for the production of room dividers, dragons, lampshades, decorations, stencils as well as for fashionable or protective clothing.
CHARACTERISTICS
- Tyvek® is a spunbond made from 100% polyethylene fibers.
- It is much lighter than conventional materials of similar strength.
- Soft Tyvek® has a textile character, stiff material is roughly comparable in appearance and texture to firm Japanese paper.
- Depending on the type, it is almost endlessly foldable and unfoldable and highly abrasion-resistant,
- Tyvek® is tearproof when wet and dry.
- In contrast to paper, it is very weather-resistant, suitable for outdoor use and conditionally UV-resistant.
- Tyvek® can be used at temperatures from –75 ° to + 75 ° C and resists a variety of chemicals.
- As a pure PE product, it is excellent for recycling.
- When disposed of in a landfill, it is groundwater neutral.
PROCESSING VARIANTS
- Like paper / fabric, Tyvek® can be cut, punched, stapled, laminated and sewn.
- Cyanoacrylic adhesives / superglue are ideal for selective gluing.
- For flat connections, use contact adhesives such as Pattex®, dispersion adhesive such as Ponal® and spray adhesive.
- Tyvek® can be printed in all classic processes, it is not suitable for photocopiers or laser printers.
- Felt-tip pens and conventional acrylic paints are suitable for painting.
- To iron Tyvek®, put on a damp cotton cloth and, if selected, edit - silk. For all applications, we recommend that you first make tests / samples.
